Hanging, Sorting, Tagging… oh my! (Part 1)
There are many different ways to organize, hang, tag, and sort. Here is one method that may be helpful.
First step in the process:
Get your bins and put them on hangers. While you are hanging your items INSPECT them for rips, stains, and tears. Anything that is not sellable toss into a donate bin so you don’t spend any further time on them. When you put them on the hanger be sure to button all of the buttons. zip the zippers, snap the snaps,etc. You want your items to look good on the hanger! If you have an oxford, broadcloth shirt or khaki pants that you are asking a little bit more money for- you might want to hit it with the iron quickly- you want your clothing to have a good impression to the buyer!
Method 1:
Put your sets together before you hang them on the rack.
Once your items are hung sort them into price piles. You don’t need to sort by size or gender yet, just by how much you want to charge. Start at $2, $3, $4, $5, $6, and then more than $6. This way when you go to enter everything in you don’t have to think about what you are going to price each item, you already did that work. After you entered everything for that price point, group print your tags on your card stock and tag everything for that price point.
Start with your most expensive pile. If you get busy and can’t finish everything, at least all of your most expensive items and better items have made it into the system. So, after you finish your “More than $6” you go to the next price point down ($6) and work backwards.
Once you have completed tagging you can sort your items by gender and size. We also suggest bundling your sizes together by twine, rubber band or zip tie to keep the sizes together securely.
